Woody & Colleen, Downtown Seattle about 1946
While strolling in downtown Seattle, a street photographer snapped this pic of Mom & Dad. They look like movie stars! Mother & Dad met following WWII. Dad had served in the Army Air Corp in Africa and Europe. He returned to the US following the war and was sent to the Kearns Utah Army Depot. (Dad should have been sent to Walla Walla, Washington, however, a mistake was made and a friend from Utah was sent to Walla Walla and Dad to Utah! Obviously this was met to be!) Mother was employed at the depot as a secretary. It must have been love at first sight! I think they were newly weds in this picture.

Effie Edna Atlanta Sandstrom Johnson
Dad's mother, my grandmother, Effie Sandstrom was born on a ship enroute to the US. Her parents, Carl Magnus Sandstrom and Emma Christina Johannesdotter Sandstrom, had come to the US and for some reason they returned to Sweden for three years. They returned and settled in Denver, CO, and lived there until they died. Grandma went to Seattle to visit her sister and while there she met Karl Sixtus Johnson at church. They were soon married.
